Meet Ms. Monica!
Hello, Crew! This is my first year at Renaissance, and I am thrilled to be here. I am a Colorado native who grew up in the Denver Metro area. I earned my undergraduate degree in Business Administration with a minor in Music from the University of Denver and recently completed my Master of Science in Education with an emphasis in School Counseling at St. Bonaventure University. While I have been in education for eight years, this is my first year as a school counselor. Previously, I worked in private school secondary admissions, student life, and academic/college advising. As I worked on my MSEd, I interned in DCSD schools for a year and a half. Before working in education, I spent time in TV sales and advertising at 9NEWS and CBS4 Denver.
My goal as the REMS School Counselor is to support ALL students at whatever level they need. Whether it's lessons in the classroom or one-on-one meetings, each student's needs are important. My mission is to "meet kids where they're at" and work in a growth mindset from wherever they start. I align myself with the American School Counselor Association's focus on academic, social/emotional, and college/career development to help grow and empower the whole child.
