Renaissance Running Club

The RRC is a running club for students, parents and staff at Renaissance Expeditionary Learning Outward Bound School. The primary goals of the program are to encourage participation in running related activities in a non-competitive environment, to teach and promote healthy living and lifestyle, and to provide an organized outlet for physical exercise at school for 30-45 minute blocks.

Using a curriculum developed by the Road Runners Club of America called Kids Run the Nation, we will explore and develop an understanding of a running program. We will discuss which muscles and bones are used to run and the benefits of a healthy diet and proper nutrition. Participants will build community both within the group and throughout the school as well as develop the ability to walk, jog, or run up to 30 minutes several times a week. We will develop character skills based on the school’s core values by encouraging our friends, keeping a positive attitude, setting and achieving goals, and understanding the importance of a healthy lifestyle.
