Ms. SamAntha Burns, Third Grade Teacher

My name is SamAntha Burns and I am excited to be a part of the third grade crew at Renaissance. I have been teaching in Douglas County for 20 years. I feel I have a strong understanding and foundation of how children learn and acquire skills having taught grades K - 3rd, within the district, and work to meet each individual at their learning level needs.

Through the school year I am supported by my wonderful family. My husband Gary, who works for the town of Parker as a signal technician and my three wonderful children that are now working to finding their own pathway in life. My oldest daughter Kaela, who is starting her own family, my second daughter, Alyson, who is starting her career as a teacher of 2nd grade in TN and my son, Neal, who attends Tennessee Tech University, studying Civil Engineering through the Army ROTC program.  My family shares with others that our family grows by 25 each year, as they know that the relationships that I build with my crew is very important to me.

In my time away from school I enjoy spending time with my family enjoying activities of hiking, kayaking or some backyard playing. I enjoy walking and find that it is a good way to process my day or relax to be ready for what may be coming next. When I have time for myself, usually on my school break, I really enjoy reading books.

I look forward to the year ahead growing and learning with your son/daughter. My hope is to build, within each student, a like of learning through the interacting and discovery of their personal learning interests.
