Meet

Mr. Cody

Hello everyone, my name is Cody Cooper and I am thrilled to be a part of the Crew at Renaissance Elementary Magnet School!

I was born in Texas, and when I was nine my parents moved to Highlands Ranch, Colorado where I eventually graduated from Thunder-Ridge High School. My wife and I now live in Castle Rock.

My teaching journey began on the Western Slope in 2016 at Colorado Mesa University where I received a Masters Degree in Education with endorsements in Elementary Education and 7-12 English Language Arts. From there I moved to Rifle, Colorado where I taught the fourth grade for two years. My journey then took me back to the Front Range where I received an endorsement in Special Education and taught in that field for three years at the elementary level.

Outside of teaching, I enjoy cooking, yoga, board games, being in nature, meditation, every type of sport, reading all sorts of genres, taking road trips, astronomy, fast cars, and gardening.

I am passionate about the principles that REMS develops in its students and staff. School can be more than learning the elements of academics. It can be a place where students learn how to turn failure into the power of perseverance, how to develop healthy habits of character, and how to positively impact their communities.

I want my students to develop deep, meaningful relationships with their peers and myself. I strive to make our classroom an environment where students can thrive personally and academically. My goal as a teacher is to ensure that when students leave my classroom at the end of the year they have the tools they need to be successful in the next leg of their journey and beyond.
