Justin Mouttet
Campus Security Specialist
Meet
Mr. Justin
Hello! I am the new Campus Security Specialist here at REMS. I've been a parent in this community for nine years, since we moved to Castle Rock to get our son Andrew into the Discovery program. My daughter Violet also attended REMS from K-4th grade. I've been fortunate to go on a number of voyages and belay kids of all ages. My wife, Jen, and I are a founding family of the secondary school and I served on the board there from 2019-23. We also have a 17 year old daughter, Avery, who has Down Syndrome and attends Castle View as part of the SSN program there.
My degree is in human biology and I've been a MS math/science teacher for two years, a youth pastor for five years, and have run 10 summers of camps for kids starting when I was 19. I've led outdoor labs, science fairs, backpacking trips, wilderness survival trainings, and more. In 2019 we began restoring a 75 bed camp facility outside of Bailey to help more groups get kids into the woods. It's also my excuse to use a chainsaw as often as possible.
I've done about 10 years of commercial property management professionally; securing doors, managing camera systems, hiring contractors and dealing with trespassers. Super boring, but useful experience for my role here.
On the side, I've run men's weekend intensives for over 15 years, basically training adults on what is posted on Mr. Doug's Door of Integrity. I've trained in several martial arts, am a proficient shooter, and earned my EMT certification in 2005. I'm a rabid fan of the podcast Freakonomics Radio and encourage you to listen. I like The Score for workouts, Lord Huron for chill-outs, and the Trolls soundtrack for Sunday morning pancake jam-outs.
I look forward to getting to know everyone and being as useful as possible. Thanks!
