 Enrollment at Renaissance Elementary Magnet School

Renaissance Elementary is a Magnet school within the Douglas County School District.  REMS has special programming and a slightly modified calendar from other DCSD neighborhood schools.  Families wanting to attend REMS must complete an Orientation (currently offered virtually) and submit an application following the Douglas County Schools Open Enrollment process.  


Open Enrollment Round One is November 1, 2022 at 8am - December 1, 2022 at 4pm. 

Families can see offers on December 10th at 8am by logging into EngagED Parent Portal.

Families have until December 17th at 4pm to accept offers.

Second Round will open January 24th, 2023 and run through August 1st, 2023


If you already have a currently enrolled REMS student, but would like to enroll a sibling, you must do the following by December 1st:

1. Complete the Sibling Enrollment Form (below) 

2. Complete the DCSD Open Enrollment Process (linked above)


New families applying to REMS must complete the following to be considered for enrollment:

1. Attend a Renaissance Orientation (listed below) or have attended an orientation within the past two years (email our registar Hope Corrales with the month and year attended so she can confirm your attendance and look for your application)


2. Complete the DCSD Open Enrollment Process (linked above)

REMS follows District & Board Policy regarding Open Enrollment for First and Second Round.   Applicants are chosen randomly with priorities as follows:
FIRST PRIORITY : Resident Siblings of Students Currently Enrolled at REMS
SECOND PRIORITY : (District Mandated Priority)
Student Applicants who live at the Household Address of DCSD Staff
THIRD PRIORITY : (District Mandated Priority)
Student Applicants who are residents within the District
FOURTH PRIORITY : (District Mandated Priority)
Student Applicants who are NOT residents within the District.
NOTIFICATION: For First Round Offers, families will be notified through the EngagED Parent Portal on December 11th.
Once spots open in a given grade, offers are made based on the above Priorities, as well as Orientation Attendance.​  
ONLY APPLICANTS WHO HAVE ATTENDED AN ORIENTATION WITHIN THE PAST 2 SCHOOL YEARS ARE ELIGIBLE.​ Applicants who have not met the Orientation requirement WILL NOT  be considered for enrollment.
PRIORITY: Applicants enrolling in the 2nd round will be listed 1st come, 1st served behind the Round One Waitlist.
NOTIFICATION: For Second Round Offers, families will be notified by phone and/or email.
ONLY APPLICANTS WHO HAVE ATTENDED AN ORIENTATION WITHIN THE PAST 2 SCHOOL YEARS ARE ELIGIBLE.​ Applicants who have not met the Orientation requirement WILL NOT be considered for enrollment.


The purpose of the orientation is to provide parents with detailed information about Renaissance Elementary in order to make sure it is the right choice for your student and family.​  If you have attended an orientation within the last two years you do not need to attend another orientation (please email our Registrar, Hope Corrales, with your name and orientation year so we can verify your attendance.)
This year, all Orientations will be held virtually and will include a guided presentation followed by a question and answer session.  Several questions have been asked during the Virtual Orientations and in the interest of time have been compiled and answered here:  Questions and Answers.
Before exiting the Virtual Orientation, you must complete the Confirmation of Attendance Form which completes the open enrollment requirements.

2022-23 Registration for ACCEPTED Applicants Only

In order to guarantee your student's spot for next year, the following must be printed and dropped off at the Front Office for each student accepted for the 2022-2023 school year.

Please print and complete all forms in the Registration Packet.
Bring completed forms, along with items 2-4, to the REMS office to complete your child's registration.  PLEASE CHECK THE REMS HOME PAGE FOR OFFICE HOURS DURING REMOTE LEARNING! 
Registration paperwork due January 10, 2022.

  2. Copy of your Child's Birth Certificate

  3. Copy of your Child's Immunization Record  (DCSD Immunization Requirements)

  4. Copy of your Proof of Residence.                   Please provide a copy of ONE of the following: Purchase Agreement, Lease Agreement, Warranty Deed, Deed of Trust, Tax Notice or print property details off the  Douglas County Tax Accessor's website
